In September 1938, a group of business and farm owners joined together at the court house in Vanceburg, Kentucky to form a fire, wind, lightning, and explosion insurance company under the 299 Kentucky Insurance Law and Regulations. They decided the name of the Company would be Farmers Co-Operative Insurance Company and the home office would be located in Vanceburg, Kentucky. The Company would be chartered to write insurance in Lewis, Greenup, and Boyd County.
